Why mosart

There are other Passive House courses.
None of them teach from a practice like this.

When we talk about thermal bridging, airtightness, or PHPP modelling, we are drawing on almost 30 years of first-hand experience, including designing and certifying Passive House buildings. The course is not built from theory. It is built from projects and include real world, on-site demos.

What changes for you

Building science is a superpower.

Once you understand the physics, the project type doesn't matter - new build, retrofit, apartment block, one-off house. You see what others miss.
Read any building like an open book. Look at a wall build-up and immediately identify where it will fail - thermally, structurally, from moisture. No guesswork, no hoping for the best.
Become the go-to for performance. Colleagues start pulling you into design reviews. Clients specifically request you. You're the person everyone turns to when performance matters.
Apply it to any project, immediately. New-build apartments, deep retrofits, social housing, and one-off homes, the physics are universal. You start using this knowledge from day one.

Don't take our word for it. Here's what graduates say after completing the course.
Light bulb moment doing this course. Wish I had done it 10 years ago. Its well paced, easy to follow and good balance of text, videos and diagrams to explain concepts. Very pleased!
Sarah Schutter
This was a useful, flexible, understandable, pleasant, and at times entertaining course. I enjoyed how I could set the pace depending on my availability. The explanations are clear and thorough, I feel ready to complete a few mock exams to face the final with confidence.
I am sure the slides and tools shared will also be useful at work after the exam.
Francesca Rausa
Overall, I found the course to be extremely educational and very well structured. The course format worked very well for me. Having the content pre-recorded and organised into clear modules made it easy to fit the learning around my schedule. I started the course in January and set aside three two-hour sessions each week to work through the material, which felt like a manageable and effective pace. Although the lectures were pre-recorded, Tomas delivered them in a way that felt very interactive and engaging. This really helped keep the material interesting and made it easier to stay focused throughout the sessions.
Davin Flynn
I found the course content & delivery exceptional. The on demand format really worked well for me. I was apprehensive at first as I don't have an architecture or engineering background - I am a carpenter/joiner, small builder & project manager - but the team at Mosart were incredibly helpful & encouraging and gave me the confidence to take on the course. The use of real world case studies & examples helped me to visualise the concepts and gain a better understanding.
David Rice
Exceeded my expectations! SO glad I chose Mosart's course. Tomás is an excellent teacher and presenter and he and his colleagues have created an excellent effective experience. Which I have really enjoyed! What's not to like about Passive House when you realise its pure goodness?

who this is for

Built for professionals who can't stop working to go back to studying.

Architects and building designers

You'll understand the physics behind every decision you make. Colleagues will notice the difference. Clients will ask you back.

Engineers and consultants

The course covers the full building envelope, MVHR, renewables, thermal bridging, and more. You'll finish knowing how to model real performance, not just comply with checklist requirements.

Developers and project managers

You don't need to become a certifier. But understanding what certification actually demands means you'll brief your design team better, catch problems earlier, and deliver projects that hold their value.

Brandon Clemenson

Architectural Designer, Stanley Bragg Architects

Built a natural, low-impact Passive House Plus home using EcoCocon wall panels for a young family in the UK. The clients had been offered a “kit” version of Old Holloway, a bio-based home by George Mikurcik, and the challenge was to adapt it to suit the site, procurement limitations, and the family’s vision without compromising performance.
“Tomás and the Mosart team’s practical, real-world approach to teaching gave me the confidence to deliver not only our first Passivhaus project but also a bio-based Passivhaus Plus home using EcoCocon wall panels. The CPHD qualification was essential in building the expertise needed to earn the client’s trust and steer the project towards certification. And I know it’s often said, but Tomás' energy during the course really stuck with me – he was absolutely fantastic.”

Henry McKinney

MCIOB, TecIOSH | Director, Newtownstewart McKinney

Delivered the Moville Passive House project, balancing architectural ambition with Passivhaus performance requirements. The challenge was to integrate airtightness, thermal bridging solutions, and high-performance detailing while maintaining design intent and comfort.
Undertaking the Certified Passive House Designer (CPHD) course transformed my approach to the Moville Passive House project by providing essential knowledge on fabric-first design, airtightness, thermal bridging, and energy modelling. I developed practical skills in using PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) to test design options and predict energy performance, facilitating certification-level performance while balancing architectural goals with Passivhaus standards. The course emphasized integrated teamwork and early design input, shaping our collaboration with architects, engineers, and suppliers for aesthetic excellence and energy efficiency. Overall, the CPHD course enhanced my expertise in sustainable construction, allowing me to guide projects like Moville Passive House with confidence.

Frequently asked questions

I'm busy. How much time does this actually take each week?

Most people finish in around 12 weeks, studying 3 to 5 hours per week alongside a full-time job. You have 12 months of access, so there's genuine flexibility. One graduate completed 60% of the course over a single weekend. We don't recommend that approach, but the point stands.

Do I need an architecture or engineering degree to take the course?

No. The course is open to anyone with experience in the built environment. The only thing your qualification affects is the title you receive after passing. A relevant degree (architecture, engineering, or related) earns you the title Certified Passive House Designer. Without one, you receive Certified Passive House Consultant. Same exam. Same professional standing.

Is this just for houses?

No. Case studies cover single-family homes, social housing at scale (Shanganagh Castle, 546 units), a 26-storey student accommodation block in Manhattan, office buildings, university buildings, and leisure centres. If you work on large commercial or high-rise projects, you won't feel shortchanged.

I'm outside Ireland and the UK. Can I still enrol?

Yes. The course is fully online and open to professionals worldwide.
