We don't just teach Passive House. We build it.
Where this started.
Mosart was founded in 1993 with one clear ambition: to design buildings that actually perform. Not buildings that look good on paper but underperform in practice, but buildings that deliver the energy use, comfort, and air quality they were designed for.
We came to Passive House early. Almost 30 years ago, before it was widely understood in Ireland or the UK, Tomás O'Leary and the Mosart team recognised that the Passive House standard was the most rigorous and reliable framework for achieving genuine building performance.
We didn't wait for regulation to catch up. We built to the standard, certified to the standard, and eventually began training others to do the same.
We didn't wait for regulation to catch up. We built to the standard, certified to the standard, and eventually began training others to do the same.
Mosart hosted the first English-language Passive House training programme anywhere in the world. That wasn't a marketing decision. It came from a straightforward belief: that if more professionals understood how to design buildings that truly perform, the industry would be better for it.
Since then, we've trained over 4,500 professionals across Ireland, the UK, and beyond. We've watched graduates go on to lead Passive House projects at scale, certify buildings across multiple countries, and change how their firms approach design from day one.
The practice has grown. The projects have grown. But the reason we train hasn't changed. Better-educated professionals build better buildings. It's that simple.
What we stand for
1
Precision
Building science isn't a matter of opinion. We teach to the standard, using the tools the industry actually uses, because there's no shortcut to a building that performs.
2
Education is key
We train because the industry needs it. The performance gap between buildings designed to minimum code and buildings designed to the Passive House standard is significant and well-documented. Closing that gap starts with training.
3
Proof over promises
Everything we teach is grounded in real projects. Not theory developed in isolation, but decisions made on live sites, problems solved under real constraints, and outcomes measured against rigorous certification standards.
Meet the team
The people behind the courses.
Tomás O'Leary
Managing Director, mosart
Tomás has spent over 22 years working at the cutting edge of Passive House design and certification. He delivered the first certified Passive House in the English-speaking world and has since trained thousands of professionals across Ireland, the UK, and internationally.
He isn't a lecturer who studied the standard. He's a practitioner who applies it daily, then explains the reasoning behind every decision in a way that genuinely sticks. Graduates consistently say the course changed how they see every building they work on. That's Tomás.
Carly Sterling
Learner support
Carly is the first point of contact for students who need a hand with anything technical or have questions along the way. Whether you're navigating the platform, troubleshooting access, or just not sure where to start, she's there to help you get sorted quickly and get back to learning. She knows the courses inside out and keeps a close eye on the student experience across all of them, so if something isn't working as it should, she's the one to ask.
Stella Farrell
Course Coordinator
Stella keeps the experience running smoothly from enrolment through to exam day. She's the person who knows where every student is in the programme, who runs the tech setup sessions the week before each exam sitting, and who makes sure no one is left without an answer when they need one. If you have a question about the course, Stella is who you contact.
Denis Manzke
Associate director
Denis works directly with organisations looking to train their teams at scale. A CPHD graduate himself, he understands the course from the inside and brings that perspective to every conversation about team development. If you're exploring corporate enrolment or want to understand how Mosart Learn's programmes fit into your organisation's L&D plan, Denis is your first point of contact.
Gonçalo Lopes, Ph.D
Civil Engineer / BIM Specialist
Gonçalo is a civil engineer with a PhD and a deep interest in what digital tools can actually do for building performance. At Mosart, he develops the custom BIM workflows that make Passivhaus design and certification faster, more accurate, and easier to replicate at scale. His work runs largely behind the scenes, but it touches almost everything the team delivers. When students hit a technical wall, whether it's a PHPP query, a modelling problem, or a workflow question they can't find an answer to elsewhere, Gonçalo is who they ask.
Eduardo Roque, Ph.D
Associate Director, sustainaibility engineer
Eduardo holds a doctorate in civil engineering specialising in energy efficiency and indoor thermal comfort, and has authored more than 15 peer-reviewed publications on building performance. At Mosart, he works across thermal bridge analysis, hygrothermal modelling, and dynamic simulation. He holds the CPHD and CPHT accreditations, which means when a student brings him a technical question, he's working from the same tools and standards the course is built around.
